Every action and decision builds on the the next. Each meal, each workout, each day adds to the next… at least that is what we are made to believe. I want you to rethink this mindset. Tomorrow is an opportunity to completely change this pattern. Every day is a new day and an opportunity to feel better than yesterday.
Here is a list of things you can do to change your mind, mood and life:
1. Set an intention each morning. Whether you’re a morning person or you struggle to get out of bed, setting an intention for the day can help establish how you feel the rest of the day. Pick a word, or a few. Make it simple. Peaceful, empowered, productive, patient, open…think about how you want to feel and carry that through the day.
2. Set reminders in your phone for those tasks you keep forgetting. Life is busy and there is always one more thing that needs to be done. It’s nearly impossible to keep track of all the tasks. As soon as you remember something you need to do, especially if you can’t do it right in the moment, set a reminder for yourself. When the reminder pops up, do it. You’ll stop getting frustrated that you forgot and you will feel relieved to have something accomplished.
3. Make a list of 3 things to-do each day. Even if you have 10 things you “think” you need to do, make a list of 3. Yes, only 3! You will easily be able to check off every thing on your to-do list by the end of the day and 3 more can be done tomorrow. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself to get it all done.
4. Text a friend to tell them you appreciate them. It’s easy to get caught up in the every day that we forget to tell people how much they mean to us. Think about how it feels when someone appreciates your hard work. Now think about how you can make a friend feel if you thank them for absolutely no reason at all.
5. Do something for yourself every day. There’s a theme…life is busy. We get caught up in all the things that we think we have to do and often forget about taking care of ourselves. So here’s your chance to do one thing for yourself every day. It could be something that takes an hour, like going to a workout class, or it could be washing your face at night. Aim for at least 15 minutes that are only for you. You deserve it!
